David Caldwell (1781-1849)

David Caldwell was born in either Ireland or Scotland.  He married Mary Ann Vaughn in 1813 in Glasgow, Scotland when he was 31 and she was 21.  They had 4 children while in Scotland-Ann, Mary, John and Jane.  In 1820 they decided to emigrate to Canada with the Lanark Society Settlers.  They received land in Lanark, Upper Canada (Ontario) from the British government and paid it off in due time.  While there, they had 6 more children-Jean, Maria, Caroline, David Henry, Abraham Vaughn and Isaac James.  Jean died young.  The last child was born in 1833.  In 1844 they had sold their land and moved (emigrated) to Monroe County, Michigan.  They joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and most were baptized in the Church either right before they left Canada or when they arrived in Michigan.  David became ill and they stayed in Michigan until he died in 1849.  In 1853, Mary Ann loaded up her children and moved to the Utah Territory with a Mormon pioneer wagon train.

This is our information in a nutshell about David Caldwell.  I and more than 20 cousins have been searching for the birth place and parents of David for many years.  And cousins older than us have been looking for David's past since before 1950.  Is there anyone out there who can help?  Any ideas?
